Services

Services are applications for the backend of a station. Unlike standard pax25 applications that assume a consistent bitstream between two points, similar to a TCP connection, services can be built to work in any manner needed to accomplish their particular goals.

Services usually set up a series of matcher functions and register them with the frame router, that way they can react to activity over the air. However, for services that produce things like beacons that run on known intervals, such matching functions may not be needed.

Pax25 imposes minimal requirements on how a service must be constructed, and calling something a service is a convention to mean that it is a piece of software that interacts with the station but is not a connected application.
